2001: A Space Odyssey 1st Screening [Exhibition and Talk]

Last weekend (2 August 2026) marked the first of three sessions for "The Ultimate Trip: 2001: A Space Odyssey in Posters" at Capitol Theatre, and I am still processing what it meant to see my little personal project step into public view.

This was my first public exhibition, and to have it take place in a historic venue of cinema made it feel especially meaningful. These posters have spent decades folded and stored, and to now have them shipped, conversed and displayed is a dream.

What moved me most was the interest after the screening. People stayed, looked closely, asked questions, and noticed details: formats, stamps, artwork, printing, age, journeys. That curiosity reminded me why material culture matters. Posters are not just advertisements; they are witnesses to the societies they belonged to, how films travelled and how cinema once occupied a central, physical space in our lives.

I am grateful to everyone who came down, listened, asked, shared, or paused before the posters. In my own small way, I hope this exhibition contributes to the preservation of cinema culture.
