Thai horror: cultural identity through film posters is now over, and i am very encouraged to say that it was a full house despite the niche nature of the topic.

What made the evening especially meaningful was the audience engagement. Beyond the main talk, there were many insightful and thought-provoking questions about Thai horror, folk belief, poster art, and why the supernatural continue to matter in popular culture. Some of the best moments also happened after the talk, in conversations with people who were genuinely curious about the subject and wanted to keep thinking through the ideas.

This was one of the most research-heavy talks I have prepared, but also one of the most rewarding. I learnt a great deal from the process, especially about the ecology of horror in Thai cinema.

Personally, it was invigorating to speak about something that has fascinated me for years. Thai horror and film posters have been part of my life for some time now, and it felt special to bring those interests together in one room.

Special thanks to the poster communities of Thailand, especially Uncle Ti and Sa from classicmovieposters, for helping with translations and sourcing some of the posters. Thank you also to Gerald and David for the wonderful event poster artwork. And as always, to the people at Druggists Singapore (Corrine, Lincoln, Alex and Kevin) for always opening their doors to the creative community in Singapore.

Thank you to everyone who came, listened, asked questions, stayed back, and reminded me that ghosts are much less frightening when discussed over drinks and presentation slides.
